Recently, my husband worked on sprucing up our basement. He quickly found that we were lacking the electric power tools needed for the job. Luckily, my father-in-law has a grand assortment of electric power tools. After watching a few videos on the internet, we were sure we needed a compound miter saw. We called up my father-in-law. His saw was available and we quickly went to retrieve it.
We figured that putting crown molding in two bedrooms would take one day, maybe two. My husband started working on measuring. He was certain that he had the measurements correct. Then, he went and made the cuts. I got the call to come and help him hold the molding into place while he used a pneumatic nail gun to secure it against the wall. The first piece looked great and we were so thrilled. We moved to the adjacent wall and began repeating the process. The pieces did not fit together at all. Somehow, either our measurements or our angles were off.
After repeating this process many times, we found that we were just not cut out for this. I mentioned our frustration to a group of friends. Soon after, I got a call from someone in the neighborhood whose husband is a carpenter. He has all the electric power tools needed for cutting the wood and offered to quickly do it for us if we brought him the measurements and the wood. We are lucky neighbors.
