My friend has been a real estate agent for the past ten years. She says that the housing market fluctuates widely and sometimes a real estate agent has to be a bit creative in order to sell a property. Since being a real estate agent can be quite competitive, my friend likes to go that extra mile to increase her chances of selling a home. One of her favorite strategies is to hold open houses for other agents. She typically holds her open houses on Thursdays and always caters in a nice lunch. The agent open houses differ from the standard open houses because the public does not attend. They are strictly for those in the real estate industry to get to know the property that is being sold.
Holding an open house for the general public is another common courtesy offered by real estate brokers and agents. This allows anyone interested in a certain property to just show up and view the property. If they so desire, the guests can sign in or simply take a descriptive brochure of the property. My friend said that sometimes the open houses draw a large crowd, and other times the turnout is less than grand.
