Many of my friends are having babies, which means I go to a lot of baby showers. As a single woman with no children, I used to have a hard time coming up with useful gifts for my mother-to-be friends. I asked one of my friends who already has one child what her favorite baby shower gift was and she told me the best gifts she received at her baby shower were toddler bibs.
Toddler bibs are an uncommon pick as a useful baby shower gift, because they seem so boring and rudimentary. Contrary to popular belief, however, toddler bibs are as useful as washcloths and need to replaced about as often as washcloths. Bibs are important if you want to avoid completely changing your toddler’s clothes after every meal. Most toddler bibs are made with terry cloth, which is very easy to clean. This also allows the toddler to be comfortable in the bib. Nowadays, toddler bibs come in a variety of fun colors and styles, and some even have clever slogans or pictures on them.
Even though I don’t have kids of my own, I am the designated babysitter for my friends, and I can testify that toddler bibs are lifesavers, especially I have to babysit the terror who throws his sweet potatoes everywhere.
