I have often heard my friends talk about iso files while we are playing online games. They have said that it really helps reduce their lag time, and a few other things. But, not wanting to show off my ignorance in front of them, I never asked what they were, or what they could do. Eventually, my curiosity got the better of me, and I asked a friend of mine how to burn an iso file.
After a few moments of conversation, he said that I not only need to know how to burn an iso file, but I should probably also know what they were in general. He told me that iso files are image files. You can use them to take all of the information from a CD or DVD and convert it into a single executable file type. I did know, from looking inside the launch folders of my games, that there are actually many groups of files that require a CD or DVD to run, but I didn’t know that you could combine them into one file. Then, he said that I could keep that file on my hard drive and run the game from there. Apparently it cuts down on the lag you experience. I may have felt silly asking about iso files initially, but at least now I know.
